COLLECTION

KAMUI – KIMONO Knit Square Cape
Kurume Kasuri MIDNIGHT ,KAGOSHIMA PREF.

This piece fuses two contrasting materials—stretchable knit and non-stretch kimono fabric—through the highest level of sewing craftsmanship known as linking technique.

By utilizing the standardized width(about 38cm) of kimono fabric used nationwide, the cape is structurally universal and compatible with textiles from any production region. This innovative design was recognized with the 2024 Good Design Award.

Rather than putting design at the forefront, the cape’s form was conceived to highlight the inherent qualities of its materials and techniques. It embodies MIZEN’s philosophy that ""technique takes the lead""."

"KAMUI – KIMONO Knit Square Cape
KOGIN-ZASHI ""VICTORY"" YABANE - Arrow Feather Pattern

In a knitwear industry where mass production is the norm, this cape stands apart as an exceptional model—crafted one by one with care. Clients can freely select their preferred combination of knit color and kimono textile, allowing them to commission a truly unique piece.

It was brought to life through the alignment of the factory’s pursuit of “showcasing technique” and MIZEN’s guiding principle of “design thinking,” founded on a deep relationship of mutual trust.

Though simple in appearance, it carries a wealth of untold stories—an iconic MIZEN masterpiece that invites you to Interpret the Unseen.

MIZEN

A Project to Interpret the Unseen
