Notice of Closure of the MIZEN Aoyama Flagship Store and Future Activities
We would like to inform you that the MIZEN Aoyama Flagship Store will close its doors on Sunday, April 20, 2025, which will be our final day of business at this location.
Since opening on December 9, 2022, we have had the privilege of welcoming many customers from Japan and abroad. Being able to introduce Japan’s remarkable traditional craftsmanship in person has been a profound joy and our greatest source of encouragement.
Over the past two years and four months, we have gratefully seen growing media attention and increasing invitations to participate in special events across Japan. All of this has been possible thanks to your generous support and patronage, for which we extend our heartfelt appreciation.
At the same time, since last autumn, we began to sense a gradual divergence between the original vision MIZEN strives toward and our present form. Taking this as an opportunity to return to our founding vision and reflect deeply on our direction, we concluded that this decision was necessary.
MIZEN will continue its activities, while seeking the most direct and precise path to realizing our core concept: elevating Japanese traditional craftsmanship into a true “brand.” We intend to relaunch in a renewed form that more clearly embodies this mission.
Although the Aoyama flagship store will close, we will actively participate in department store events and organize independent pop-up exhibitions. We are also planning to present new collections shaped by an evolving worldview, strengthen our online presence, and expand into initiatives such as Japan’s hometown tax donation program (furusato nozei). Further details will be announced via email and social media—please stay tuned.
Upcoming events include a pop-up at Nihombashi Takashimaya in June and at Haneda Airport in September.
In addition, MIZEN pieces are permanently available at JMC (Japan Master Collection), a select shop located in the duty-free area after departure at Haneda Airport Terminal 3 (near Gate 110). If you are traveling abroad, we would be delighted if you stopped by.
MIZEN will continue to challenge itself to create a new value system in which traditional craftsmanship becomes a brand.
We sincerely ask for your continued support of MIZEN and of Japan’s extraordinary traditional crafts.
We look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

A Project to Interpret the Unseen
