MIZEN COLLECTION Vo.1 MIZEN BLUE ~SHO~
MIZEN is a project that creates a luxury brand by putting craftsmen at the forefront
with the theme of "Transforming Tranditional Craftsmanship Into Timeless Luxury".
By adjusting these traditional craftsmanship to meet the needs of modern living and sharing them with the world,
MIZEN aims to increase the importance of skilled workers and improve the long-term potential of their industries.
In Septemper 2023, MIZEN will collaborate with RADEN-ori, from Kyoto Prefecture, Kotango City.
It will be directed by ARLNATA, a brand that creates collections using luxury Tsumugi,
lead by former HERMÈS designer Shunsuke Teranishi.
MIZEN will also be presenting a new collection for this project. These pieces are tailored using
MIZEN Project Vol.1, a signature design called "MIZEN BLUE 勝~SHO~(VICTORY)" ,

A jumpsuit characterized by a pattern in which a single 32 cm wide obi runs
from the front to the back of the body and neckline. The hem of the pants also uses obi fabric,
horizontally swapped, and accented with MIZEN's original lace tape woven
with lamé threads at the edge of the obi, making it suitable for special occasions.

"Imagine weaving seashells into fabric." In the 1970s, Tango textile merchant Katsuichiro Tamitani,
captivated by the shimmer of the sea in seashells, made this a reality after about two years of research.
Raden, where 'ra' stands for seashell and 'den' denotes craftsmanship,
has developed in Japan as a lacquer decoration and established as a technique in maki-e.
This "Raden" and the traditional textile technique "Hikihaku" were merged to create the new technology of "Raden Ori".
This technique involves pasting thinly sliced seashells onto washi paper,
cutting them into thin strips, and weaving them as weft threads. Breaking conventional concepts,
Raden Ori expresses the sea's shimmer through a flexible textile.
